Onlinecasinobluebook.com - Serp Analysis - Part 2 - Backlinks Analysis
Nov/0922
Following on from part 1 of the Online Casino serps analysis we were focusing on the no.1 domain to see why it was no.1.
We covered site history and the hosting and now its time to look at the backlinks of the site.
We were looking at onlinecasinobluebook.com which is/was no.1 when i did my search for online casino in google.com.
Google has placed this site at no.1 by analysing it and using the algorithm they have developed over many years, spent millions of pounds on, have search engineers with phd`s and a large dedicated antispam team.
Thanks to all this technology from google i can be safe in the knowledge that this site hasnt been buying links because they have deemed it of high enough relevance to be at the no.1 position.
Just to reinforce that trust from google they created a page to reassure me.
So when i now go to look at the backlinks i expect to find the site had earned its links and of course all the sites linking to it will be on theme and referencing the site for a specific reason.
Lets have a look shall we?
I wont be using any automated tools because they just give you numbers and other data.
I want to actually see the links, where they are places and other links on the sites.
First i go to yahoo.com because that will give me a bigger picture but after that we will check the snapshot from google.
Yahoo.com
Go to yahoo.com and in the searchbox type linkdomain:www.onlinecasinobluebook.com and press return>
Select the tab on the right that Inlinks.
70100 inlinks showing in yahoo.com.
We will ignore that though because yahoo is not the focus at the moment.
go to google.com and type link:www.onlinecasinobluebook.com
Google just shows a snapshot of the sites linking to the domain.
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.onlinecasinobluebook.com%2F
Opps,, things are not looking too good so far.
Google tells me 209 sites linking to.
I will just list the first decent amount because i am led to believe they list the most important at the top.

I dont know why the anchor text is .net even though its over the .com domain.
I hope someone can enlighten me.
Maybe the .com redirected to the .net for a while because he was building links quietly.

Need i go on?
Out of all the links i have checked so far there seems to be a big big pattern.
This person hasnt earned one of them.
None of these links are an impartial vote for his site.
The way gooogle treats links on a basic level is that the more sites that link to yours the more votes you have.
Its a pure popularity contest in google and this is where the google algorithm is flawed.
Google believe that if you have the best content you will get the most links and this will say you deserve to be on top.
Many statements from matt cutts and google say they are cracking down on paid links and pay per post but it seems they werent telling us the whole truth.
You see evidence above that if you want a no.1 site you need to have an old domain with some content and buy links from wherever you can get varying the anchor text.
Can any of you help me find any sites he hasnt paid to be on?

1:26 pm on November 4th, 2009
Thanks Chris.
I intend to share a lot more because the search engines are turning into a bit of a joke now.
1:39 pm on November 4th, 2009
I very amusing read, but nothing new here. You won’t find any ‘earned’ link to this site, simply because there are none. Probably ALL his backlinks are bought in some way or another and if I start digging through my files I might even be able to tell you how much he paid for them.
1:43 pm on November 4th, 2009
Btw, what your research does ‘prove’ is that all this talk about sitewides, footer links and blogroll links being discounted or ignored is b*llsh*t.
2:04 pm on November 4th, 2009
The main question though must be.
why is he ranking when the rest of us get spanked for buying links and shitty link farms?
2:27 pm on November 4th, 2009
Earl, I wonder what the search engines are going to say to this analysis - it’s just making a fool of their multimillion pound technologies, especially Google
Besides, it really sucks that they say one thing and do another. Did they not say “do no evil”? They murderously “slap” the small guy then turn the blind eye to the big guy. It will be interesting to see if this site does not use AdWords, if it does (which I think is yes), what is their average monthly spend?
Earl, I think this will really open a huge DRUM of worms!
Btw, update on http://www.2-software.net/TeamSpeak-226.html the site is up now - you will notice http://www.onlinecasinobluebook.com/ with the anchor link as “Casino Gambling”.
2:30 pm on November 4th, 2009
Giggle algo is not clever enough to detect this, so they rely on spam reports. My guess would be that nobody reported him. If you put your findings in a spam report, in theory he should be penalized by next week.
2:43 pm on November 4th, 2009
Bertje, I hate reporting people and I am against it. Why? Simple, what about those who are quite clever to hide their own paid links, who as soon as the guy above them is removed they occupy that some spot with the same evil? That is some injustice. It should be the same rule for everyone. If he paid for his links to get their and all the people in the next 10 spots are doing the same, why should he be singled out? And if the top 10 paid for links what about the next 100, don’t they? The whole set of rules by Google has no justice.
2:48 pm on November 4th, 2009
@Braveheart. I was answering Earls question. I have no intention of reporting anyone.
2:58 pm on November 4th, 2009
I know, Bertje, I wasn’t talking about you at all, not by inch. I was referring to people who are frustrated at their slow progress at SEO do. I am sure many of those who report others do buy links in one form or the other.
Bertje, keep up your comments, I am enjoying reading them as much as you do writing them
3:14 pm on November 4th, 2009
I have been checking the PR of the pages where these links are being hosted and some of them don’t even have any rated PR for example: http://pennyfoolish.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html and also http://sacrealstats.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html - NO PR. These two examples are difficult to qualify. Why? If the 2007 post with no page rank is counted worthy by Google due to age, the 2009) with no page rank has no age to qualify it to be worthy. I wonder what the PhD engineers are fumbling at in the alg - the homepage?
3:46 pm on November 4th, 2009
I would imagine every competitor is putting in spam reports on him daily.
But what will replace it?
Time to start looking at 888.com
4:03 pm on November 4th, 2009
maybe its time I revise my opinion of sidewide links…
anyway, some of the people selling links are doing it better than others. use this posting to get some cloaking ideas. if you can see the paid link, it’s not very well done
5:26 pm on November 4th, 2009
Interesting comments guys and great post Earl.
@ wahd - what do you mean by link cloaking? presuming the link gets crawled by GoogleBot but is not visible on manual inspection, is that right?
8:31 pm on November 4th, 2009
@si in this case i was more interested in links that are visible but nobody notices them. could be in a blogroll, could be in the tag section or as in the case I was referring to, in the meta section.
10:22 pm on November 4th, 2009
@Earl Grey That was why I mentioned in my previous post that it would be interesting if he (or they) hold an AdWords account, and to see what they spend on the PPC campaign per month. I know what I mean about that, anyone who has a huge PPC account knows what I am saying - indirectly
12:48 pm on November 5th, 2009
Thanks for clearing that up wahd - good point - no point in flagging your paid links by sticking them all in the sponsors list.
Earl - RE the next analysis on 888.com I saw them advertising for a ‘clean’ seo recently . . . not sure if that tells you anything . . . but looking at that link profile they’re gonna have their work cut out
5:07 pm on November 5th, 2009
Same guy doing this did the same thing about 1year ago with the .com. He also has bunch of sites in the “web hosting” affiliate market that since died off.
Anyways great post. Nice +2 links to many of the sites that are linking to him.
You may want to rel-nofollow those
S
11:54 pm on December 22nd, 2009
Great reading Earl and lots of interesting comments.
But this typifies my view of SEO - it doesn’t make sense! You follow the rules - original content, genuine links and ya get no where. Pay for some links - use the likes of Link Juicer and things start to happen.
I’m currently working on getting a company up in the rankings for a certain term. They are hovering around page 3. I know all the sites above and watch what they are doing. But then a no-mark site with no keywords in the url, little content and no domain age to speak of jumps in at position 13 grrrrrr! I’m hoping its come in high as its just been indexed.
All the sites above mine are using paid links and doggy blog entries to get their places. So stuff it! It’s BH all the way from now on (and I dont mean Benson and Hedges!!)
8:37 pm on December 23rd, 2009
Dude i have been doing seo for a long time and i am considered one of the most experienced.
I still dont get it.
That is the reason progrrammers and people with logical thinking dont get seo because there is no logic to it.
Google say “dont buy links” and “dont do dodgy linking” so you keep it clean and all the sites above you use the techniques.
Main reason i dont listen to any of the fags and just do what i want.
